A celebration in her honor was the day of the vernal equinox, and her emblem was a prolific rabbit. After conversion to Christianity, the Germans took the familiar animal as an Easter symbol. Besides, an ordinary chicken couldn’t bring such wonderful painted eggs. But the magic Bunny might do it easily! So the EASTER RABBIT, “Osterhase”, became one of the most beloved children’s characters, first in Europe and then in America, where this tradition was brought by immigrants.
