Minky is a microfiber plush fabric with pimples. It is widely popular among children’s sewing and embroidery due to its juicy, rich colors and various prints. In addition, this fabric seems to be filled with tenderness.

So, let’s consider the features of the embroidery process on Minky fabric.

Since Minky is rather elastic fabric, it is necessary to use a cut-away stabilizer. Its non-stretchable base will help prevent fabric puckering or skipping stitches.

Use a water-soluble stabilizer on top. This will help prevent “stall” stitches in the high pile of the fabric.

It is necessary to hoop all three layers of the fabric and stabilizers.

Use needle number #11 or #75/11 for best results.

After embroidery, it is necessary to cut off the excess stabilizer from below, retreating approximately 0.3 Inches from the embroidery.

As you may have guessed, designs with dense coverings are perfect for Minky fabric. Such dense embroidery will help to smooth the pile of fabric, and thereby create a quality embroidery project. Lightweight designs, such as Redwork, are not suitable for embroidery on this type of fabric.
