Machine embroidery on burlap fabric

Burlap is a fairly dense, and at the same time, loose fabric made of natural fibers. Embroidering on such a fabric is not as difficult as it may seem.

Design: Medium in density and dense designs are suitable for such embroidery. It is better not to use contour designs like Redwork.

Stabilizer: The choice of the lower stabilizer depends on the purpose of your project and the design you choose. Specifically, for this embroidery, you can use both tear-away and cut-away stabilizer. However, before using a tear-away stabilizer, we recommend testing the embroidery.

The looseness of the burlap leads to the using of an upper water-soluble stabilizer. For example, stabilizers from manufacturers Sulky Solvy or Madeira are ideal.

The using of a water-soluble stabilizer will help prevent missing stitches and “falling through” in the tissue structure. Embroidery will look beautiful and neat if you use it.

Hooping: Hoop the resulting "sandwich" in the frame.

Needle: Although it is a thick fabric, we recommend using a pointed needle #75/11. It will perfectly advance between the fibers of the fabric during embroidery. So the product will look neat.

Threads: Use any type of thread that you like. You can even embroider this design with a black or white fluorescent thread. So, on the day the embroidery will look as indicated in the sample, and as soon as it gets dark, the embroidery will amaze your guests with a bright green flicker.

Note: After you have embroidered a design, you need to cut off excess threads and remove the excess stabilizer. Please note that it is not recommended to wet the burlap completely. Therefore, tear off as much as possible the area of the water-soluble stabilizer. To remove the small remaining pieces, wet the cloth with a damp sponge.
