~ Choosing the needle

When performing embroidery on terry cloth, special emphasis on the choice of needles should not be done. The fabric is beautifully embroidered with ordinary embroidery needles. If you still have a problem with them, use the following specialized needles.

When embroidering on loose terry fabrics, use rounded needles, such as needles for embroidery on knitwear. This needle expands the material without damaging its structure.

When working with a thick terry cloth with a high looped pile and a high content of artificial fibers, use a sharp needle. It pierces the material effortlessly, which prevents skipping stitches.

~ Choosing the thread

When embroidering on terry fabrics, you can use any yarn (cotton, polyester, wool, etc.). The main task is to make the threads durable and wear-resistant. Perhaps, viscose and metallic thread is harder to tolerate frequent washings and does not get along well with bleach and other chemicals used in washing.

Recommendations for choosing the lower thread are unlikely to be different novelty. Use the usual bottom (black or white, depending on the color combination design) thread.

When embroidering on terry towels, try to use the lower thread in the color of upper. Thus, the wrong side will be more accurate. Note that in this case the embroidery will be denser.

~ Stabilizer

You need to take both stabilizers – upper and lower. For the wrong side and preventing puckering use cut-away stabilizer and the glue of a temporary fixation.

Also you should use water-soluble stabilizer on top to prevent missing stitches or getting lost stitches in the pile of the fabric.

~ Hooping

First it`s recommended to hoop the cut-away stabilizer. Then to spray the glue and place the fabric in the stabilizer with the front side up. After that pin the water-soluble stabilizer on top.
