What do you need to know when choosing?

It's no secret that compliance with all the rules of technology of machine embroidery will lead to a successful embroidery project. And choosing a needle for machine embroidery is one of the most important aspects.

All needles for machine embroidery are divided into four types: sharp, round knives, wedge shaped and needles for a metallic thread.

Sharp needles for machine embroidery are the most common and widely used. You have probably noticed that we recommend them for embroidery of many projects. Such needles easily pierce even the densest fabric. In addition, they leave smaller punctures, compared to a usual embroidery needle. For many tissues this is very important.

Rounded needles are characterized by the presence of a rounded tip. It, in turn, does not "break through" the fibers, but rather "slides" between them. Use such needles for embroidering on loose and elastic fabrics. For example, a srounded needle is ideal for embroidery on knitwear or terry cloth. Such needles are divided into thin, thick and medium densities.

Blade-shaped needles for machine embroidery have a tip very similar to the blade. It is because of this similarity that they bear such a name. The point of such a needle as if "chopping" the material for embroidery. Such needles are suitable for embroidery on leather, vinyl and non-woven materials.

And the last type is a needle for a metallized thread. Here it is clear. Such needles have a special triangular eye. This makes it easy to pass the metallic thread. In addition, using such a needle, it is possible to prevent the yarn from breaking during embroidery.

And if, for example, you use an ordinary embroidery needle for embroidering a metallic thread, it can easily break.

Some tips for choosing a needle that you should remember:

~ The size of the needle depends on the density of your fabric. The tighter it is, the larger the size of the needle.

~ We have already noted more than once that for the light and not very dense tissues, you can use the 75/11 needle. For embroidery on dense tissues, it is more expedient to use a 90/14 needle. For delicate fabrics, use needles 60/8, 65/9, 70/10.

This is interesting: The approximate useful life of the needle is two million stitches. This equals eight days of continuous, twenty-four-hour work of the machine, embroidering 650 stitches a day.
