The bobbin - is "bottom thread" because it is located under the needle plate inside the sewing cap. The bobbin thread needs to be strong enough to hold the fabric together while you are stitching. It also needs to withstand being pulled through the material multiple times. The tension on the bobbin thread should be just right - not too loose and not too tight. If the pressure is too loose, the stitches will be too loose, and you may end up with a fabric that falls apart. If the tension is too tight, the stitches will be too fast, and you may puckering or break the thread. It would be best if you also used a good quality bobbin when sewing with an embroidery machine. A good quality bobbin will help to ensure that your stitches are nice and tight.
