Stabilizer Calculation:

To choose the correct stabilizer weight, consider the fabric weight first.

Formula:

Divide the fabric’s weight by 3 to get the recommended stabilizer weight.
(Example: If the fabric is 210 g/m², use a stabilizer around 70 g/m²)

Madera Cotton Soft Medium is an excellent tear-away stabilizer for this design.

Hooping tip: When hooping fabric and stabilizer together, always add 1 cm (⅜ inch) extra on all sides beyond the design’s size to ensure tension and prevent shifting.

Towel Embroidery Hack:

When embroidering on terry towels (especially thick ones), use the following method for best results:

• Back side: Use a medium tear-away stabilizer and secure the towel with a temporary adhesive spray (like Odif 505)
• Top side: Apply a water-soluble topper (such as Solvy) to prevent the stitches from sinking into the loops; you can also lightly spray it to fix it in place
• Needle: Use a sharp 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle
• Hooping: Always hoop the towel together with the stabilizer, not floating — this ensures clean stitchout and long-lasting embroidery
