Please note: the first file is suitable for a 130 × 180 mm (5 × 7 inch) hoop. The second and third files require a larger hoop with a width of at least 160 mm (6.30 inches). Hoop names are nominal, so always compare the exact file dimensions with the usable embroidery area supported by your machine.

Christmas composition

The rabbit sits in the lower-left area while the evergreen branches and hanging carrots form a strong diagonal above it. This arrangement gives the design movement while retaining a compact, nearly square silhouette. Red bows create the Christmas accents, orange carrots add a playful storybook detail, and the quiet beige shades of the rabbit keep the holiday palette balanced.

All elements belong to one complete embroidery design and stitch together. Do not delete individual branches or ornaments without checking the complete stitch sequence, underlay and overlaps in professional machine embroidery software.

Embroidering a linen Christmas basket liner

For a decorative basket, embroider the design on the flat outer panel before assembling the liner. Mark the finished fold, side seams, lower seam and any handle openings first. Position a full-size paper template on the visible front panel so the rabbit’s ears, stitched ground line and outer fir needles remain completely inside the future seams.

Fabric, stabilizer and needle

Choose medium-weight linen, firm cotton or a stable cotton-linen blend with an even weave. Because the rabbit, carrots and fir needles contain filled areas and precise outlines, the entire embroidery field needs consistent support.

For a lined basket cover that will be handled or washed, use a soft medium-weight cutaway backing and conceal it between the outer fabric and the lining. On loose linen, fuse a lightweight stabilizer to the wrong side before hooping, then add the main backing. A good medium-weight tear-away can be tested on firm, tightly woven linen when the project is decorative and the test stitch shows no puckering.

• keep the fabric grain parallel to the hoop sides;
• use a new 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle with 40-weight rayon or polyester thread;
• use a thin water-soluble topping only on loose or visibly textured fabric;
• complete a full test stitch on the same fabric and stabilizer combination.

Can the colors be changed?

Yes. The rabbit can be stitched in light gray, white or a warmer beige, and the bows can be coordinated with your holiday textiles. Preserve the contrast between light, medium and dark shades in the fur, fir needles and carrots; this tonal separation creates dimension and keeps the small details legible.

Do not automatically merge repeated color blocks. A color may reappear because of the required overlap and stitching sequence. Metallic thread may be tested for the small hanging loops, but use a Metallic 90/14 needle, reduce the machine speed and complete a sample first.
