This large oblong Christmas toy combines burgundy and light stripes, a dark checkered center, a gold cap, a red bow and symmetrical green foliage. The design creates a prominent central motif for large textile projects and Mega Hoop embroidery machines.

Use it on decorative pillows, textile panels, table runners, quilts, tote bags, chair-back covers and other large Christmas or New Year projects. This is standard filled machine embroidery with an open fabric background. It is not appliqué and not an ITH project.

A finished embroidered item is not included.

Planning a Large Embroidery Project

For a pillow, bag or textile panel, embroider the design before cutting the front piece to its final dimensions. Mark the vertical and horizontal centerlines on an oversized fabric blank, complete the embroidery and cut the finished panel afterwards. This leaves enough fabric for accurate positioning and seam allowances.

For two matching pillows, print one template at 100% scale and measure its position from the same lower and side edges on both fabric blanks.

Fabric and Stabilizer Guide

The stabilizer should extend beyond every side of the hoop and be held securely by both hoop rings. Keep the fabric flat without stretching it during hooping.

How much upper thread should I prepare?

The technical charts show approximate upper-thread consumption of 167.38 m, 199.64 m, 239.27 m and 286.56 m, depending on the selected size. Keep an additional 10–15% available, especially for the burgundy and dark color blocks.

How long will the embroidery take?

At an average working speed of 600–700 stitches per minute, allow approximately 75 minutes for the smallest file and up to about two hours for the largest file. Thread changes, trims and machine acceleration increase the total time.

Should the design be embroidered before sewing a pillow or bag?

Yes. Embroider on an oversized front panel first. Trim the stabilizer, allow the fabric to rest and then mark the final cutting lines and seam allowances.

Which needle is suitable for this design?

Use a new embroidery needle 75/11 or 80/12 with Madeira Classic 40. For the largest file, start with a fresh needle. Replace it if the machine produces a tapping sound, damages the upper thread or leaves visible needle marks.

How can the placement be repeated on several items?

Print the selected template at 100% scale. Mark its center and both axes, then measure from the same finished edge on every fabric blank.

How should the finished embroidery be pressed?

Place the embroidery face down on a folded terry towel and press from the reverse side. The soft surface prevents the filled areas from being flattened by the iron.
