Practical Embroidery Tips

• Use 40-weight rayon or polyester embroidery thread with a new 75/11 embroidery needle.
• Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together whenever the project allows it. The fabric must be smooth and firm, but it should not be stretched out of shape.
• For the first size in a 180x300 mm hoop, position the 178.4 mm side across the narrow direction of the hoop.
• Embroider at approximately 600–700 stitches per minute. Reduce the speed if the rayon thread begins to fray or the outline shifts on the fabric.
• Before embroidering a finished garment, stitch the selected size on a sample made from the same fabric, stabilizer and thread.
• If using temporary spray adhesive, apply it lightly to the stabilizer away from the embroidery machine. Spraying near the machine can leave adhesive on the needle, hook and internal parts.
• Do not substantially resize the file in embroidery software. Large changes can alter stitch length, registration and the smoothness of the curved outlines.
