Suitable Fabrics

For linen-based projects, a medium-weight linen fabric with a density of 200–250 g/m² (6–7.4 oz/yd²) is ideal. This weight ensures durability and provides a stable base for intricate embroidery.

Preparation and Stabilizers

• Stabilizer Choice: Use a medium-weight cutaway stabilizer, such as Madeira Cut-Away Medium or Sulky Cut-Away Plus, with a weight of 40–50 g/m² (1.4–1.8 oz/yd²). This helps maintain the design’s precision on a flexible fabric like linen.

• Fabric Preparation: Pre-wash the linen to prevent shrinkage. Iron it thoroughly to create a smooth surface for embroidery.

• Hooping Tips: Spray a temporary adhesive, such as Gunnold KK 100, onto the stabilizer and attach it to the back of the fabric. Ensure even tension while hooping both layers together to avoid puckering.

Embroidery Process

1. Use a 75/11 embroidery needle for detailed stitching on linen.

2. Maintain a moderate embroidery speed to ensure clean, precise stitches.

3. After embroidery, trim excess stabilizer close to the design and lightly press the fabric for a polished finish.
