What Stabilizers Should You Use?

1. Backing Stabilizer (Bottom Layer): Use a tear-away stabilizer with a weight of 80–100 g/m² (2–3 oz/yd²) to prevent stretching of the sweatshirt fabric during embroidery.
2. Topping Stabilizer (Optional): If the sweatshirt fabric has texture or a nap, such as fleece or brushed knit, apply a water-soluble stabilizer like Sulky Solvy (40–50 g/m² or 1.2–1.5 oz/yd²).

How to Hoop Sweatshirts?

• Position the sweatshirt so the embroidery area is flat and centered in the hoop.
• Place the tear-away stabilizer under the fabric, ensuring it is fully secured.
• Hoop both the sweatshirt and stabilizer together tightly, avoiding any stretching or distortion.
• For additional accuracy, you can use adhesive stabilizers like Floriani Perfect Stick for small signs or detailed designs.

Additional Tips

• Use a 75/11 embroidery needle to handle knit fabrics without causing damage.
• After stitching, carefully tear away the stabilizer and rinse off any water-soluble topping to finish the design.
