Small Surprised Pumpkin is a compact fall machine embroidery design created for small hoops. Its expressive face, large yellow eyes, green leaves and curling vines remain easy to read even in the smallest version, which fits an 80x80 mm (3.15x3.15") embroidery field.
This is a filled embroidery design with outline details, not an applique or a finished patch. Your download contains digital files for an embroidery machine; the finished item, fabric, thread and stabilizer are not included.

Minimum hoop size: 80x80 mm (3.15x3.15")
The smallest 62.0x60.8 mm (2.44x2.39") file fits an 80x80 mm (3.15x3.15") embroidery field. Choose a larger hoop for the other versions according to the exact file dimensions; the largest 83.0x80.5 mm (3.27x3.17") file does not fit an 80x80 mm (3.15x3.15") field. Before loading a file, compare both design dimensions with your machine’s actual embroidery area.
The design uses five thread colors arranged in six consecutive color blocks. Madeira Classic 1049 is used twice: first for the grass and later for the upper leaves. Do not merge matching colors with automatic color sorting because the original block order preserves the intended overlaps and clean outlines.
| Color | Madeira Classic 40 | Embroidered area |
|---|---|---|
| 1049 — green | Grass beneath the pumpkin and upper leaves | |
| 1172 — pumpkin orange | Main pumpkin fill | |
| 1064 — yellow | Large surprised eyes | |
| 1170 — olive green | Stem and curling vines | |
| 1006 — black | Pupils, facial lines, texture marks and final outlines |
You may change the palette to suit your project. Keep clear contrast between the pumpkin fill, eyes, foliage and dark outlines. The screen swatches are approximate; select thread by the Madeira number and a physical manufacturer color card.
A good starting point is quality 40 wt machine embroidery thread with a 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle. The final needle choice depends on the fabric thickness, stabilizer and thread type.
Important: the filled areas may make lightweight fabric stiff or cause puckering when support is insufficient. Test the complete design on matching fabric with the same stabilizer before embroidering the finished item.

The minimum hoop size is 80x80 mm (3.15x3.15"): it accommodates the 62.0x60.8 mm (2.44x2.39") file. The other versions are larger, so compare the exact dimensions of your selected file with your machine’s usable embroidery field.
Yes. Use a suitable stabilizer beneath the towel and a water-soluble topping above it. This helps the filled areas, eyes and fine facial lines remain clear instead of sinking into the loops.
Yes. The pumpkin may be orange, honey, beige or green. Keep strong contrast between the yellow eyes, green details and dark outline.
It is safer to use one of the four prepared sizes. Simply scaling a stitch file can change its density, stitch lengths and small-detail quality. A modified version must be properly recalculated in professional digitizing software and test stitched.
This is a digital machine embroidery design. No finished patch, garment or physical materials will be shipped.
