Royal Present Embroidery presents an excellent set of Christmas machine embroidery designs “Red bird, Poinsettia flower”.
Poinsettia appears on the shelves of flower shops just in time for the Christmas holidays, because in December it comes into leaves of various colors, which many mistake for flowers. Bright red, pink, white veined leaves appear when most plants have finished flowering period, that’s why Poinsettias are loved by florists in many countries.
Mexican in origin, Poinsettias started to conquer the world’s love from America. Colored leaves decorated shop windows for Christmas, that’s why Poinsettia got a beautiful second name “Christmas star”. In the early twentieth century an enterprising florist organized a firm in Encinitas, California, to breed and promote the flower inside the country and abroad. The decision to sell this plant in pots brought him great profit, and Poinsettias got worldwide fame. This firm still exists and is the largest manufacturer and exporter of the unusual plant. The United States are so fond of this flower, that December 12 has come to be National Poinsettia Day.

The design for machine embroidery of Poinsettias is depicted in the company of a bird called the Northern cardinal. The vibrant red color of feathers of the bird, like a bright festive frock-coat, completes the Christmas decor with its triumphant look. Northern cardinal lives mostly in the East of the North American continent. Bright crimson plumage is the key feature of males; the female’s color is dull reddish olive.
Cardinals are well-known as songbirds. They say, the whistle of these birds recalls the warbling of a Nightingale. When male and female birds sing together, this duet is absolutely beautiful. In Western culture Northern cardinal and Poinsettia often appear on Christmas cards. Being traditional symbols of Christmas and New Year, their images are always welcome to festive decor. Beautiful design of the floral branches is appropriate in any time of the year for home textiles or as decoration of women’s clothing.
