Quick Easter projects with Spring Rabbit Embroidery Design.

Let’s start with creation of Easter gifts. As household textiles embroidered with bunnies, are always highly thought-after Easter basket fillers, we’ll talk first about them.

Few words on fabrics best suited for this design:

Like all quick-stitch patterns, Spring Rabbit “hops” lightly on any type of fabrics. Be it “heavy” canvas totes or light floursack towels, this machine embroidery design will stitch well on any of them. Note:Try to avoid embroidering light designs on excessively textured fabrics (like heavily ribbed knits, terrycloth or fur), because stitches will most likely drown in the pile.

Unlike Spring Rabbit head design, “Happy Easter” sign consists of satin stitching, which isn’t so demanding stabilizer-wise as the running stitch. What’s more “Happy Easter” embroidery design is done in cursive not only for decorative reasons. The fact that the letters are all connected ensures that even after numerous washes Happy Easter embroidery will keep its form. On this wise, when speaking of particularities of working with spring rabbit embroidery designs, what goes for the rabbit by proxy will go for the letterings.

Now that we’ve sorted out our fabrics, let’s get down to the real thing.

Kitchen textiles, embroidered with Spring Rabbit Design will make any foodie or cooking enthusiast flip with excitement. Aprons, dish-towels and napkins of all kinds and sorts – all these textiles treasures can don some of Spring Rabbit charm.

Embroidering on aprons

As aprons are made of quite solid, non-stretchy types of fabrics, (cotton, denim, oilcloth) they are really easy to embroider. Remember that if you want to make an embroidered oilcloth apron, opt for oilcloth with a fabric-kind of backing bonded to its side. This layer will keep the oilcloth from tearing while the needle is sewing through it. For embroidering on aprons you’ll need medium weight cut-away stabilizers (any brand will do) and polyester threads. The needle of choice will be sharp 17/11. As aprons are supposed to be washed quite often, you’ll want to use threads that could withstand such a tall. A polyester thread in this case is a real champion. Attach the stabilizer to the fabric with temporary spray adhesive and hoop the sandwich together and embroider as you usually do.

Embroidering on different types of kitchen towels and napkins

Easter gift sets with Spring Rabbit design can include items of various types. Aprons can be accompanied by towels, napkins or any other type of household textile, used for cooking or serving food. You don’t even have to use same kind of fabric to make a unified set of textiles. Spring Rabbit motif and “Happy Easter” sign, used creatively throughout the set, will consolidate the pieces perfectly.

Depending on types of fabrics that you choose, list of supplies for embroidering on towels will differ from that, used with the apron. Further we’ll give list of most common fabrics, used for kitchen towels. Each fabric will be provided with the needed stabilizers, tuned specifically to match stitching requirements of Spring Rabbit embroidery design. Threads and needles will be same: rayon or polyester threads (the latter preferred) and sharp 75/11 sewing or embroidery needles.

Waffle-weave towels: medium weight tear-away + light water soluble topping (Sulky’s Solvy, Maderia Avalon). NOTE: any textured fabric should be embroidered with a layer of water soluble topping, so that running stitches of Spring Rabbit design won’t sink in.

Linen and lighter cotton weaves (e.g. floursack): medium weight tear-away (any brand is ok),

Sheer fabrics: sheer mesh cut-away (Soft and sheer by Sulky) or water soluble tear-away (like Madeira E-ZEE Stick-on, Wet N Gone Tacky).

Microfiber: cut-away backing (as it might feel a bit stretchy). If look of the back side of the embroidery is an issue, than use sheer mesh cut-aways (like Soft and Sheer by Sulky).

All materials (except water soluble toppings) should be hooped together.

Uses of Spring Rabbit embroidery design outside of Easter-related theme

For lovers of Beatrix Potter and Lewis Carroll’s creations, Spring Rabbit embroidery design can be a real inspirational treasure trove. What with home décor attributes or accessories for themed parties – this adorable rabbit can be used in so many ways! Back of jackets or fronts of tote bags will love them some of the adorable rabbit motives. Do you want to imbue fictional vibe into interior of you home? Throw pillows, embroidered with spring rabbit design is a great way to do it. You can also decorate with wall accents bearing the embroidery of spring rabbit, munching on a yellow tulip. If you have never made a frame art from your embroidery, here’re some basic steps that you should follow:

  1. GET YOUR SUPPLIES READY. Everything: the frame, the embroidered textile, the board (foam or cupboard), the number of pins, the glue should be of proper number, color and type.

– The embroidered piece of fabric should be ironed;

– The board and frame should match the size of the fabric;

– The board’s color shouldn’t “interfere” (clash against or peak through) the fabric;

– The glue should be of proper type – permanent spray adhesive is the best. Make sure that when applied, this spray adhesive doesn’t stain. 3M™ Foam & Fabric 24 Spray Adhesive is a good choice for the work.

  1. CENTER YOUR PIECE OF FABRIC ON THE BOARD. For this you’ll need to position your cupboard under the fabric, adjusting it so that the embroidery is centered in the middle.
  2. Mark places where the corners of the cupboard should be with pins.
  3. Turn the fabric with the embroidery over and apply to its back side spray adhesive.
  4. Position the board on the sprayed fabric, aligning its angles with the pins.
  5. Trim the excessive fabric according to the size of the board, leaving at least 2” strip from each side of the board. Glue this 2” boarder to the other side of board for a neat look.
  6. Put the piece into the frame.

Framed embroidery is a wonderful way to showcase your artistic skills, while upgrading interiors.
