Christmas Scrollwork Borders with Bow and Hanging Ornaments Machine Embroidery Designs Set

This set contains two separate one-color Christmas border machine embroidery designs: a narrow scroll with hanging baubles and a wider ornament with a central bow, scrollwork and hanging decorations. Each design is supplied in one original size, and both require an actual embroidery field of at least 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09 in).

These are two different embroidery files, not one border supplied in two sizes. Every element in each composition stitches in one selected thread color. The download contains digital files for an embroidery machine; no finished or embroidered item is included.

Set specifications

The former format list repeated EXP; the duplicate has been removed above. The original design dimensions, inch measurements and stitch counts have not been changed.

What the set includes

The matching length of 178.0 mm (7.01 in) makes the two borders easy to coordinate in one textile collection: use the wider design on a table runner and the narrow scroll on napkins or towels.

Hoop compatibility

Check the machine’s maximum embroidery field, not the outer dimensions of the plastic hoop. The commercial 5x7 label is used for different actual sewing fields. A machine limited to exactly 127x177.8 mm (5.00x7.00 in) may reject a 178.0 mm (7.01 in) file. With a true 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09 in) field, both designs fit without resizing. One-color thread options

The product preview shows both borders in green, but each complete design stitches in one thread color chosen by the embroiderer. The source page does not publish a specific thread number, so the Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40 colors below are practical recommendations, not an official color chart for the files.

Use the same thread number for both borders when creating a coordinated set. If you choose metallic thread, make a complete test first, use a metallic embroidery needle and reduce the machine speed; metallic thread requires different tension and is not a direct substitute for 40-weight rayon.

Estimated embroidery time

These estimates represent needle movement only. Actual production time will be slightly longer because of tie-ins, trims and acceleration. As each design uses one thread color, no manual color-change stops are required.

Fabric, named stabilizers and needle

Why the top film is listed in microns rather than g/m²: Madeira specifies Avalon film by thickness, not by area weight. Twenty microns equals approximately 0.8 mil in U.S. film measurement. Converting this to oz/yd² without a manufacturer-published basis would create a false specification. The solid backings above include both g/m² and oz/yd².

Mark both the center point and the long axis with a paper template. For a napkin, make the intended fold first and confirm that the entire motif remains visible. Along a towel or runner edge, align the file axis to the fabric grain rather than to a hem that may already be distorted.

This set is not described as a continuous or seamless border. Do not join repeated copies edge to edge without a test layout. Print templates, choose a consistent gap between motifs and stitch a sample before embroidering the finished textile.

Where to embroider the borders

• on opposite ends of a Christmas table runner;
• along the lower edge of guest towels or kitchen towels;
• on the visible section of folded dinner napkins;
• on the short sides of placemats or decorative textile panels;
• on the front panel of a fabric gift bag before assembly;
• on the cuff of a Christmas stocking;
• in the center of a rectangular pillow or fabric basket panel.

The wider ornament with the bow works well as a central feature. The narrow scroll is useful along a towel or napkin edge where you want to preserve open space for a monogram, name or place setting.

Will both borders fit a 5x7 hoop?

Yes, if the machine’s actual embroidery field is 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09 in). Both files are 178.0 mm (7.01 in) long. A machine limited to exactly 127x177.8 mm (5.00x7.00 in) may reject them, so check the technical field rather than the commercial hoop name.

Can I rotate a border and stitch it horizontally?

Yes. You may rotate the file by 90 degrees in the machine or embroidery software as long as the complete dimensions remain inside the available embroidery field. Trace the design boundary before starting.

Which stabilizer should I use for napkins or towels?

For stable woven cotton or linen, use one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft 50 at 50 g/m² (1.47 oz/yd²). For a ready-made item that is difficult to hoop, use Madeira Cotton Fix at 50 g/m² (1.47 oz/yd²). On terry, add Madeira Avalon 20 μm (0.8 mil) water-soluble film over the pile.

Can I repeat the motifs to create a continuous border?

The files are not described as seamless. Repeated placement is possible, but first print templates, choose an intentional gap and test the layout on a sample. Do not assume that the scroll ends will join edge to edge.
