Emerald Bloom Floral Border Machine Embroidery Design – 2 in 1

The Emerald Bloom Floral Border Machine Embroidery Design is a jewel-toned linear ornament composed of violet and blue flowers, smaller blossoms, emerald-green foliage, turquoise scrolls and pearl-white highlights. The elongated botanical composition can be embroidered horizontally or vertically on decorative pillows, table runners, towels, placemats, tablecloths, curtain panels, bed linens and textile accessories.

This digital set contains two related embroidery files. The larger file is a ready-to-stitch symmetrical double border with floral sections extending from both sides of the center. The smaller file is a compact single floral border section suitable for smaller projects and embroidery fields. These are two separately prepared compositions, not merely one file automatically resized by the machine.

What is included

• Long symmetrical border: a complete double composition with mirrored floral sprays joined at the center. It is supplied as one combined embroidery file and is stitched in one hooping.
• Short floral border element: a compact ornamental section with large flowers, small blossoms, curved foliage and decorative scrolls.

The finished pillow, table linen and placemat photographs show examples of how the design may look on different fabrics. The embroidered items themselves are not included.

The long border requires an embroidery field of at least 100x300 mm (3.94x11.81 in). The short element fits a 100x170 mm (3.94x6.69 in) field or a 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09 in) field, commonly described as a 5x7-inch hoop.

The files may appear vertically on the embroidery machine screen. Rotate the design by 90 degrees when a horizontal placement is required, but do not resize it. Confirm that the rotated dimensions remain within the actual embroidery field of the selected hoop.

Where to embroider the floral border

• Place the long symmetrical border across the front of a decorative pillow or cushion panel.
• Embroider it across the ends of table runners, dresser scarves and bed runners.
• Use the border along the lower edge of a tablecloth, curtain panel or decorative towel.
• Place the shorter element on placemats, guest towels, cosmetic bags, pillow bands and clothing panels.
• Rotate the shorter file vertically for garment fronts, curtain bands or narrow decorative panels.

Embroider pillows, bags, garments and lined accessories on the flat fabric piece before construction. Mark the finished edges, seam allowances and center axes before hooping. Make sure that the flowers and scrolls remain outside future construction seams.

The short element is a finished standalone ornament rather than a digitized endless-border tile. If several copies are used in one row, print full-size templates and determine the spacing before marking the fabric. Test the proposed arrangement on scrap fabric before embroidering the final item.

Fabric and stabilizer

The design is suitable for stable woven cotton, linen, twill, canvas, decorative fabric, velvet and other medium-weight materials. The long file contains more than 31,000 stitches, so the fabric must be supported across the complete 298.1 mm (11.74 in) embroidery length.

Use the following preliminary formula when selecting stabilizer:

Fabric weight ÷ 3 = minimum stabilizer weight

For fabric weighing 180 g/m² or approximately 5.31 oz/yd²:

180 g/m² ÷ 3 = approximately 60 g/m² or 1.77 oz/yd²

For stable cotton or dense linen, use approximately 50–60 g/m² or 1.48–1.77 oz/yd² tear-away stabilizer. Apply temporary embroidery adhesive to the stabilizer, attach it to the reverse of the fabric and hoop both layers together without stretching the material.

For decorative pillows, loose-weave linen, clothing panels or fabrics that require permanent support, use approximately 60–80 g/m² or 1.77–2.36 oz/yd² cut-away stabilizer. Support the loose part of the fabric at hoop level so that its weight does not pull the embroidery carriage.

When stitching on velvet, terry cloth or another fabric with a raised surface, add a lightweight water-soluble topping above the fabric. It prevents the smaller flowers and decorative stitches from sinking into the pile.

Madeira Classic Rayon 40 color palette

The color charts use Madeira Classic Rayon 40 numbers. The descriptive color names below identify the parts embroidered with each thread and are not official Madeira shade names.

Madeira No. 1074 — pale-blue fills of the ornamental curled leaves; Madeira No. 1046 — emerald stems, curled tips and small floral details; Madeira No. 1248 — light-green leaves, foliage scrolls and final green details; Madeira No. 1311 — violet flower fills, petal details and shadows in the curled elements; Madeira No. 1093 — turquoise accents in the flowers and ornamental details; Madeira No. 1134 — deep-blue petal shading, flower outlines and centers; Madeira No. 1003 for the long file or No. 1004 for the short file — pearl-white flower and scroll highlights.

Madeira thread sequence

Both files contain 9 color blocks and 8 thread changes. Follow the sequence shown below instead of relying on the colors displayed automatically by the embroidery machine.

The long border uses approximately 156.96 m or 171.65 yd of upper thread. The short element uses approximately 77.13 m or 84.35 yd.

Embroidery software may display different colors because machine palettes do not always correspond to Madeira Classic numbers. Follow the supplied JPG chart and the sequence above. To select equivalents from another thread manufacturer, use the free Madeira embroidery thread converter.

Practical embroidery recommendations

• Use the supplied files at their original dimensions.
• Embroider a test sample using the intended fabric, stabilizer, needle and threads.
• Use Madeira Classic Rayon 40 or another 40-weight machine embroidery thread.
• For medium-weight woven cotton or linen, begin with a sharp or embroidery needle in size 75/11 or 80/12.
• Reduce the embroidery speed to approximately 600–700 stitches per minute.
• Several color blocks contain separated flowers and decorative details. Check for jump stitches and trim loose connecting threads according to the capabilities of your machine.
• After each color block, check for thread loops, fabric movement and lifting stabilizer edges.
• Press the finished embroidery from the reverse on a soft padded surface.
