Old Key with Scrolls is a digital set of two machine embroidery design sizes. The vertical motif has an ornate scrollwork bow, an oval keyhole opening, a long shaft and a shaped bit.
The smaller version suits a single accent on a sachet, pillow or gift bag. Use the larger version as the central detail on a textile panel, cushion cover or narrow runner. This purchase contains embroidery-machine files, not a finished item.

Where to Use the Key
This tall motif works well on linen sachets, gift bags, pillow covers, book-cover panels and narrow towels. Leave open space around the design so that the scrollwork bow and shaped bit remain clear instead of visually crowding the edge of the item.

Questions and Answers
How do I keep the long key centered on the fabric?
Print the selected size at 100%, mark the vertical centerline on the fabric and check the placement before hooping. Keep clear space above the scrollwork bow and below the bit; it prevents the tall motif from looking shifted on a narrow panel or bag.
How do I calculate the stabilizer weight for the scrollwork?
Use fabric weight ÷ 3 as a starting total backing weight in either measurement system. For example, 180 g/m² ÷ 3 gives about 60 g/m²; 5.31 oz/yd² ÷ 3 gives about 1.77 oz/yd². Choose the backing structure for the fabric’s stability and test on the actual project material. This is a starting point, not a fixed rule. See the stabilizer calculation and puckering guide.
Why use temporary spray adhesive with this design?
It helps the fabric and stabilizer move as one layer, particularly useful for a narrow item or for the small curves in the scrollwork. Spray a light, even coat onto the stabilizer away from the machine, then position the fabric without stretching it. Adhesive reduces shifting; it does not replace stabilizer or secure hooping. Read the temporary adhesive guide.
What should I check in the test stitch?
Check that the oval opening stays clear, the outer scrolls do not pull the ground fabric inward and the shaped bit keeps its outline. If the fabric waves or the contour shifts, adjust the stabilization and repeat the sample on the same fabric before embroidering the final item.
Can I change the size myself?
For another size, order professional design resizing. A customer-resized file is an altered file, so the result is the customer’s responsibility. The store guarantees published sizes and a file professionally recalculated from the original working source.
