Star Frame with 3D Bow Machine Embroidery Design is a five-pointed star monogram frame with a dimensional bow accent stitched above the frame opening. The bow uses a raised 3D technique that lifts slightly off the fabric surface. The center is open for your own initial, monogram or letter. Font not included.
Size: 81.6x90.9mm (3.21x3.58"), Stitches: 5205
Hoop: 4×4 inch hoop (100×100 mm)
Formats: .dst, .pec, .exp, .hus, .vip, .pes, .dat, .vp3, .sew, .tab, .xxx, .jef
The bow uses a raised dimensional stitching technique. Follow the color sequence in the design file carefully — this is what creates the lifted bow effect. Skip a color step and the bow will lie flat instead of lifting. Use a firm cut-away stabilizer for best results. For stabilizer guidance read our stabilizer guide.
The star shape opens up more project options than a round or oval frame. Here is how people actually use this design:
Stitch the frame on a linen sachet or gift pouch with the recipient's initial inside. Use thread one shade darker than the fabric for a tone-on-tone effect — subtle, elegant and works on any color fabric.
The star shape reads immediately as fun and playful. Add a child's initial inside and stitch on a pocket, sleeve or back yoke of a shirt, pajama top or sweatshirt. Keep thread color bright for kids' items.
Use red, white or blue thread on denim, canvas or cotton tote bags. The star frame with a monogram works well on aprons, kitchen towels and fabric banners for summer holidays.
Stitch the frame in white or ivory thread on organza or satin pouches. Place a small initial or date inside. At 81×90 mm the design fits neatly on small favor bags without overwhelming the fabric.
For terry towels always use water-soluble topping on top of the pile before stitching. This keeps the star points sharp and the bow details clean. Remove topping carefully with damp cloth after stitching.
Combine this star frame with the Six-Pointed Star Frame with 3D Bow for a mixed star set — use one on napkins and the other on matching towels or place mats.
The center of the star frame is open for your own letter, initials or monogram. The font is not included in this file. Add your letter using embroidery software before stitching.
Tip: Script and calligraphy fonts look best inside a star frame because their curves contrast nicely with the angular star points. Block letters also work but choose a bold weight so the letter reads clearly inside the frame at this size.

Cotton and linen — best results, use tear-away stabilizer.
Terry towels — use cut-away stabilizer plus water-soluble topping.
Velvet and fleece — use cut-away stabilizer plus water-soluble topping, stitch slowly.
Organza and satin — use lightweight cut-away, reduce presser foot pressure.
Denim and canvas — use tear-away stabilizer, works very well with this design.
