Large Checkered Christmas Ornament with Bow and Greenery Machine Embroidery Design is a dense, filled holiday motif created for Mega Hoop projects. Fabric and Stabilizer Recommendations
This is a large, densely filled design with long stitched areas in the checkered ornament. It is best suited to stable medium- and heavyweight fabrics such as decorative cotton, canvas, twill, denim and upholstery-weight fabric. For lighter fabric, reinforce the entire embroidery area before hooping.
Use a firm cut-away stabilizer weighing approximately 70–90 g/m². Two layers of medium-weight cut-away may be used when the fabric is flexible or when stitching the largest size. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together, add a basting frame if available, and avoid pulling the fabric excessively tight.
For terry cloth, velvet or fabric with a raised surface, place a thin water-soluble topping above the fabric so the small gold accents and satin borders remain visible. Test the complete design on similar fabric before embroidering the final project.

Can Madeira Classic 1069 be replaced with metallic gold thread?
Yes. The original chart specifies regular Madeira Classic 40, not metallic thread, but the ornament cap, hanging loop and round gold accents can be stitched with embroidery metallic thread. Use a Metallic 80/12 or 90/14 needle, reduce the machine speed to approximately 400–500 stitches per minute and make sure the thread feeds freely without sharp bends.
How can puckering be prevented around the filled checkered ornament?
Use a stable fabric with firm cut-away backing under the complete design area. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together, use a basting frame when available and stitch at a moderate speed. Do not rely on tear-away stabilizer alone for the larger sizes.
Can the design be embroidered on velvet or terry cloth?
Yes, provided that the fabric is supported with cut-away stabilizer. Add a thin water-soluble topping above the pile so the outlines, small gold circles and leaf details remain on the surface instead of sinking into the fabric.
Can the embroidery file be resized?
Choose one of the four prepared sizes whenever possible. The design contains large filled sections, satin borders and small decorative accents, so ordinary scaling can alter the stitch density and registration. Any additional resizing should be recalculated in professional embroidery software and test-stitched.
