Tall Spiral Seashell Bluework is a one-color digital machine embroidery design supplied in three sizes. The motif depicts an elongated marine shell with a tall spiral silhouette, fine contours and engraving-style hatching. Its narrow vertical format is suited to table-runner ends, long linen napkins, decorative towels, bottle bags, tote-bag panels, pillows and framed textile art. This listing contains downloadable embroidery files, not a finished item.

Size: 37.6x152.0 mm (1.48x5.98 "), Stitches: 5133
Size: 41.4x167.4 mm (1.63x6.59 "), Stitches: 5391
Formats: dat, dst, exp, hus, jef, jef+, jpx, pec, pes, sew, vip, vp3, vp4, xxx
This tall seashell is digitized as light one-color linework. The fabric remains visible between the stitched ribs, while repeated contours and short hatched lines create depth without a solid filled background. Dark blue thread produces the traditional Bluework effect; black, off-white, denim blue or another single color can be used without changing the design sequence.
| Included design size | Minimum hoop | Placement |
|---|---|---|
| Size 1 — 1.35x5.44 in (34.2x138.2 mm) | 4x6.69 in (100x170 mm) or larger | Vertical, no rotation |
| Size 2 — 1.48x5.98 in (37.6x152.0 mm) | 4x6.69 in (100x170 mm) or larger | Vertical, no rotation |
| Size 3 — 1.63x6.59 in (41.4x167.4 mm) | 4x6.69 in (100x170 mm) or larger | Vertical; run a boundary trace |
A 4x4 in (100x100 mm) hoop does not fit any included size. All three files require at least a 4x6.69 in (100x170 mm) embroidery field. Size 3 is 6.59 in (167.4 mm) high and leaves only 0.10 in (2.6 mm) of total vertical clearance, so run the machine’s boundary trace before stitching.
| Color | Madeira Classic 40 | Stitched area |

| Fabric | Thread | Visual effect |
|---|---|---|
| White or ivory linen | Madeira No. 1043 Navy | Classic high-contrast bluework |
| White or ivory linen | Madeira No. 1242 Deep Blue | Soft vintage coastal styling |
| White or light warm-gray linen | Madeira No. 1000 Black | Vintage scientific engraving effect |
| Dark navy fabric | Madeira No. 1071 Off White | Crisp reverse-Bluework contrast |
| Material | Stabilizer | Setup |
|---|---|---|
| Linen, cotton or linen blend | Medium-weight tear-away | Hoop the fabric and stabilizer together without stretching the fabric |
| Loose or open-weave linen | Fusible tear-away | Fuse before hooping so the fine lines cannot shift between the woven threads |
| Canvas, twill or tote-bag fabric | Medium tear-away or light cut-away | Embroider the flat panel before assembling the bag |
Use a 75/11 embroidery needle with smooth linen or cotton. An 80/12 needle may be more suitable for firm canvas. Rayon No. 40 produces a polished sheen, while polyester No. 40 is practical for frequently washed table linens. Test thick matte cotton thread before using it because extra thickness can make the fine hatching appear heavier.
A water-soluble topper is not required on smooth fabric. This light linework is not the best choice for deep terry loops because the fine stitches may sink into the pile. On a towel, place it on a smooth woven border or use a low-pile surface with a water-soluble film on top.
Print the selected template at 100% before hooping. Because this is a tall narrow design, check its distance from seams, hems, drawstring channels, folds and future assembly lines.
These four designs belong to the same vintage line-art seashell collection. Stitch them in one thread color to build a coordinated set of napkins, placemats, pillows or coastal wall panels.

Do any included sizes fit a 4x4 hoop?
No. The smallest file is 5.44 in (138.2 mm) high, so every included size requires at least a 4x6.69 in (100x170 mm) embroidery field. A larger plastic hoop does not expand a machine limited to a 4x4 field.
Do all three sizes fit a 4x6.69 hoop?
Yes. Sizes 1–3 fit vertically without rotation. Size 3 is 6.59 in (167.4 mm) high and leaves only 0.10 in (2.6 mm) of total vertical clearance, so run a boundary trace before stitching.
Can I stitch the design in a different color?
Yes. The motif is intended for one-color embroidery. Navy creates traditional bluework, black resembles a vintage engraving, and off-white thread gives a crisp reverse-bluework effect on dark fabric.
Does this design need a water-soluble topper?
No topper is needed on smooth linen, cotton, twill or canvas. Use a topper only on a slightly textured surface. Deep terry is not recommended because the fine lines can disappear between the loops.
Which stabilizer should I use for a linen table runner?
Use one layer of medium-weight tear-away with firm, smooth linen. Choose fusible tear-away for loose or open-weave linen so the tall narrow motif cannot shift between the woven threads.
May I sell finished items made with this design?
Yes, you may sell finished physical items in small handmade quantities. The digital embroidery files may not be copied, shared, exchanged or resold.

I've not been able to use it. I needed a smaller design, but trying to resize in Embrilliance caused it to lose definition.
