This set includes three separate one-color Christmas border machine embroidery designs: a bow with ornamental scrollwork, birds among holly branches, and a Christmas tree with two deer.
Each border is embroidered with one thread color. Choose a shade to coordinate the designs with towels, napkins, table runners, tablecloths, decorative pillows or fabric gift bags.
These are digital files for an embroidery machine, not finished embroidered products.

What is included in the set
- a border with a bow, leaves and ornamental scrollwork;
- a border with birds, holly and a central snowflake;
- a border with a Christmas tree, two deer and botanical ornamentation.
These are three different designs, not one border in three sizes. Each file is supplied in one original size.
Hoop requirements
All three designs fit an embroidery field of 130x180 mm (5.12x7.09 "), commonly described as a 5x7 inch hoop.
The largest design measures 75.0x178.0 mm (2.95x7.01 "). The files do not fit an embroidery field of 100x170 mm (3.94x6.69 "). Before purchasing, check the actual embroidery area supported by your machine, not only the commercial hoop name.
Madeira Classic Rayon No. 40 color options
The preview shows the borders in green, but every file is a one-color design. The entire composition is stitched with one selected thread.

The complete one-color border can also be embroidered with Madeira Polyester CR Metallic No. 40. Its thread weight corresponds to the standard No. 40 embroidery thread for which the files were digitized.

A flat screen color cannot reproduce metallic shine accurately. Use the Madeira color number to identify the exact thread shade.

Each combination uses one thread color for the entire border. A multicolor version would require editing the file and adding separate color stops.
How to embroider with metallic thread
- For the complete design, use No. 40 metallic thread because the stitch density was created for standard No. 40 embroidery thread.
- For Madeira CR Metallic No. 40, use a 75/11 embroidery needle.
- Begin at approximately 550–600 stitches per minute and increase the speed only if the thread feeds smoothly.
- Do not change the upper thread tension in advance. Adjust it in small steps only if repeated breaks occur or too much top thread is pulled to the reverse.
- If the thread unwinds from the spool unevenly, use a separate thread stand to create a longer feed path.
- Keep standard fine bobbin thread in the bobbin. Metallic thread is not required underneath.
- If thread breaks repeatedly, replace the needle first and check the thread guides for burrs.
How to embroider the borders on towels
Prewash and dry the towel when possible. Hoop the fabric without stretching it. Because the files are up to 178.0 mm (7.01 ") long, placement inside a 180 mm (7.09 ") embroidery field must be precise.
- Under terry cloth: use a tear-away or water-soluble stabilizer with enough support for the fabric and stitch count.
- Under dense linen and table textiles: use a soft tear-away stabilizer.
- On top of terry loops: add a thin water-soluble topping.
The water-soluble topping holds the terry loops below the stitches. This prevents fine scrolls, bird legs, branches and deer outlines from sinking into the pile.
Secure the topping with the machine's basting frame or small pieces of embroidery tape placed outside the stitching area. After embroidery, remove the large pieces and dissolve the remaining film with water.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my embroidery machine display a different color?
Some machine formats use the embroidery machine's internal color palette. For a one-color file, the displayed shade has no technical effect: install the thread you selected and embroider the entire border with that color.
Can I embroider the complete border with metallic thread?
Yes. Use No. 40 metallic embroidery thread for the complete design. Its thickness is the closest match to the standard thread for which the stitch density was digitized.
Why do the fine details disappear into terry loops?
The most common cause is missing water-soluble topping. The topping keeps the terry loops below the stitching and helps preserve fine outlines and small details.
Will the designs fit a 100x170 mm hoop?
No. The long side of the files measures 177.9–178.0 mm (7.00–7.01 "). The machine must support an actual embroidery field of at least 178.0 mm on the long side.
Do I need to change thread colors while embroidering?
No. Each border is digitized as a one-color design and is embroidered completely with one installed thread color.
