The Oriental Floral ITH Sleep Mask Machine Embroidery Design creates a shaped, lined eye mask decorated with symmetrical blue, turquoise, white and gold flowers, leaves and scrolls. The front is embroidered and the mask is assembled in one hooping; after turning, only the small opening must be closed by hand. Three sizes are included for 5x7 and larger embroidery fields.

Oriental Floral In-the-Hoop Sleep Mask

This ITH eye mask combines a practical travel and bedtime accessory with a formal oriental floral ornament. Dark and light blue scrolls create the main structure, white flowers add contrast, and small golden centers brighten the composition. Because the fabric remains visible between the embroidered elements, the color of the front fabric is an important part of the finished design.

The three sizes make it possible to choose a mask for different face widths. The smallest file fits a true 5x7 embroidery field; the medium and large files require larger fields. Do not choose by the commercial hoop name alone: use the exact width and height listed above.

Original Madeira Color Chart

The original sequence chart uses the Madeira Classic Rayon thread library. Madeira color names are reference names; choose and purchase thread by its four-digit color number.

Important: blocks 5, 6 and 7 use the same black thread in the original chart, but they are separate construction steps. Do not delete, combine or reorder them. Stop the machine and add the elastic and backing layer when required by the programmed sequence.

Fabric and Color Options

• Dark navy or black front: use the original Madeira Classic 1133, 1132, 1004 and 1064 palette for strong contrast.
• White or ivory front: Natural White 1004 will disappear into the fabric. Replace it with Madeira Classic 1242 Dark Denim or another visibly contrasting blue.
• Pale blue front: retain 1133 for the dark details, use 1004 for the flowers and test 1132 to ensure that the lighter leaves remain visible.
• Metallic accent: block 4 may be changed from Madeira Classic 1064 Goldenrod to Madeira CR No. 40 4206 Pure Gold. Use metallic only for the golden flower centers and teardrop details, not for construction blocks 5–7.

Madeira CR No. 40 is a standard-weight metallic thread designed to run with a 75/11 or 65/9 needle. Test the exact fabric, stabilizer and thread combination before making the final mask.

Recommended Materials

• Front fabric: stable cotton, cotton-linen, lightweight décor fabric or non-stretch satin;
• Backing against the face: soft cotton sateen or smooth satin;
• Stabilizer for stable woven fabric: Gunold STIFFY 1640 tear-away, 37 g/m²;
• Extra support for light or slippery fabric: Gunold STIFFY 1650 tear-away, 50 g/m²;
• Optional soft layer: Vlieseline H 630 low-loft fusible batting behind the front fabric;
• Needle: Organ Embroidery 75/11 for standard 40-weight thread and stable woven fabric;
• Strap: soft elastic measured for the wearer before it is secured in the construction sequence.

Do not use thick batting directly under the dense floral embroidery: too much loft can make the front rigid and distort the final outline. Keep the elastic and loose fabric completely inside the mask outline before the final joining seam so the needle cannot catch them accidentally.

How the ITH Construction Works

1. Hoop the stabilizer and the front fabric securely.
2. Stitch decorative color blocks 1–4.
3. Keep the project in the hoop and follow construction blocks 5–7 in their programmed order.
4. Position the elastic ends and the backing fabric only at the corresponding machine stops.
5. After the final seam, remove the project from the hoop and trim the excess fabric close to the seam without cutting the stitches.
6. Turn the mask right side out through the opening and close the opening by hand with an invisible stitch.

Does this design fit a 4x4 hoop?

No. The smallest file is 90.7x178.0 mm (9.07x17.80 cm / 3.57x7.01 in) and requires a true 5x7 embroidery field. The other two sizes require larger fields.

Is the finished sleep mask included?

No. This listing contains digital machine embroidery files. Fabric, elastic, stabilizer, thread and the finished physical mask are not included.

Is the mask completely finished in the hoop?

The embroidery and main assembly are completed in one hooping. After the mask is removed, it must be turned right side out and the small turning opening closed by hand.

Can I combine the three black construction blocks?

No. They use the same thread color but perform different assembly functions. Keep all programmed stops and stitch them in the original order.

Can I resize the design?

Use one of the three supplied sizes. Scaling an ITH file can alter seam allowances, elastic placement, the turning opening, satin-stitch width and the alignment of the front and back layers.

Can I sell finished masks made with this design?

Finished embroidered masks may be sold by a small handmade business. The original or modified digital files may not be copied, shared, uploaded or resold, and factory mass production is prohibited. Read the Royal Present Embroidery Users’ Agreement for the complete terms.
