ITH Christmas Stocking with Santa Machine Embroidery Design is a complete in-the-hoop project for making a festive felt stocking in one hooping. The design features Santa Claus, wrapped presents, snowflakes and a decorative golden border.

Use the finished stocking for Christmas gifts, candy, holiday table settings, personalized family décor or handmade products for seasonal craft sales.

The name, lettering, alphabet and font are not included. Add your own inscription before attaching the back piece of felt.

Materials and Supplies

felt for the front of the stocking;
felt for the back piece;
firm heavyweight stabilizer;
40-weight machine embroidery thread;
bobbin thread;
sharp embroidery needle, size 75/11 or 80/12 depending on the felt thickness;
regular scissors or pinking shears.

Only the stabilizer is hooped. The first piece of felt is placed over the stitched placement outline, and the back piece is positioned under the hoop before the final joining line.

How to Embroider and Assemble the Stocking

Hoop a thick stabilizer.
Turn on the machine, it will embroider the circuit.
Put a piece of felt on the place where the machine marked the Christmas sock.
Turn on the machine, it will sew the felt to the stabilizer.

You can cut the felt at a distance of 1/3 Inches from the line. You may do it at the end of the embroidery.

Embroider the design.
When the last color remains (this is another line), you need to put another piece of felt down, under the embroidery frame, with the front side on the embroidery unit. This will be the wrong side of our Christmas sock for cutlery.
Turn on the machine and sew this piece of felt.
Get the hoop out of the machine. Take the scissors with a jagged edge and cut the sock in a circle.

Is this a complete in-the-hoop project?

Yes. The placement outline, decorative embroidery and joining of the felt layers are completed in one hooping.

What hoop size is required?

The smallest file requires an embroidery field of at least 155.2 x 198.0 mm. The medium file requires 178.0 x 227.1 mm, and the largest requires 198.0 x 252.7 mm.

Will the design fit a 5x7 or 130 x 180 mm embroidery field?

No. None of the three included files fits a 130 x 180 mm embroidery field.

Can the stocking be made smaller?

A smaller custom version would require removing the upper ornament and snowflakes because these details would become too small. A reduced file is not included with the three standard sizes.

Is the name or embroidery font included?

No. The inscription shown in the example is a personalization idea. Add your own embroidery font before attaching the back piece of felt.

Do I need to hoop the felt?

No. Hoop only the thick stabilizer. The felt is placed over the placement outline and secured by the programmed tack-down stitching.

Does the stocking need to be turned inside out?

No. The back felt is attached under the hoop during the final step. The finished stocking is removed from the stabilizer and trimmed around the outline with pinking shears.

Can I change the thread colors?

Yes. Keep strong contrast between Santa’s red clothing, white beard, skin tones, dark details and the gift boxes so that the illustration remains clear.

Is this a finished physical stocking?

No. This product contains digital files for a computerized embroidery machine. No physical product or materials will be shipped.

Can I sell stockings made with this design?

Finished embroidered stockings may be sold by a small business. Factory production and redistribution, sharing or resale of the digital files are prohibited.
