Islamic Machine Embroidery Designs is a focused collection of downloadable embroidery files featuring Arabic calligraphy, Ramadan Kareem lettering, crescent moon and star motifs, Islamic symbols and large appliqué compositions. Use these designs for Ramadan and Eid decorations, cushion covers, textile wall panels, book covers, table linens, gift bags and respectfully placed religious gifts.

The collection includes compact designs for a 100x100 mm (4x4") hoop, larger motifs for 5x7 and 8x8 embroidery fields, and unsplit Arabic calligraphy appliqué for mega hoops. Check the exact dimensions and supported machine formats on the individual product page before purchasing.

Islamic Embroidery Designs in This Collection

  • Ramadan Kareem Embroidery Design — Arabic calligraphy arranged in a crescent-shaped composition. Six sizes from 98.0x93.5 mm (3.86x3.68") to 198.4x189.2 mm (7.81x7.45").
  • Islamic Crescent Moon and Star — three detailed sizes for prayer-room décor, book covers, cushions, wall panels and ceremonial accessories.
  • Islamic Symbol for a 4x4 Hoop — a compact 98.8x98.8 mm (3.89x3.89") design for small textile projects.
  • Arabic Calligraphy Appliqué — three complete unsplit designs beginning at 298.3x299.0 mm (11.74x11.77"). Created for large cushions, textile panels and Islamic interior décor.

Choose a Design for Your Hoop

For a 100x100 mm (4x4") hoop, select the compact Islamic symbol or the smallest Ramadan Kareem size. Larger crescent-and-star designs require at least a 130x180 mm (5x7") embroidery field, depending on the selected size. The large Arabic calligraphy appliqué requires a usable embroidery field of at least 300x300 mm (12x12"). Its files are supplied as complete designs and are not split for smaller hoops.

Always compare the listed design dimensions with the actual stitchable field of your machine. The marketing name of a hoop does not always equal its usable embroidery area. The guide to embroidery hoop sizes and actual sewing fields explains how to check compatibility.

Ramadan, Eid and Islamic Home Décor Projects

  • Embroider Ramadan Kareem lettering on table runners, napkins, fabric gift bags or decorative cushion panels.
  • Use crescent-and-star motifs on book covers, wall hangings, ceremonial accessories and Ramadan decorations.
  • Stitch large Arabic calligraphy appliqué on a flat fabric panel before assembling a cushion cover or wall hanging.
  • Combine religious motifs with geometric borders while keeping the calligraphy as the main visual element.
  • Use coordinated thread colours across cushions, table linens and decorations to create a complete Ramadan or Eid textile set.

Respectful Placement of Arabic Calligraphy

Do not mirror an Arabic calligraphy embroidery design because mirroring reverses the writing. Check the product preview to confirm the correct orientation before transferring the file to your machine.

Designs containing the name of Allah, religious praise or sacred wording should be placed where the embroidery will remain clean and be treated respectfully. Avoid footwear, floor-level decorations, seating surfaces and items likely to be soiled or casually discarded. When making a religious gift, verify the wording and intended placement with the recipient.

Fabric, Stabilizer and Thread

For stable cotton, linen or canvas, use a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer. Dense crescent-and-star designs and large decorative panels may require a firm cut-away backing for long-term support.

When embroidering on velvet, terry cloth or another fabric with pile, place water-soluble topping over the fabric to prevent small stitches and calligraphic details from sinking into the surface. Support large hoops so their weight does not pull against the embroidery-machine carriage.

Use 40 wt machine embroidery thread and a 75/11 or 80/12 embroidery needle selected for the fabric. Always make a complete test stitch before embroidering the final item. Read the detailed guide to choosing stabilizers for machine embroidery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these finished embroidered patches?

No. These products are downloadable digital files for embroidery machines. Fabric, thread, cushions, patches and other physical products are not included.

Which Islamic embroidery designs fit a 4x4 hoop?

The 98.8x98.8 mm Islamic symbol and the 98.0x93.5 mm Ramadan Kareem design fit a 100x100 mm (4x4") embroidery field. Always verify the usable field of your machine before purchasing.

Can Arabic calligraphy embroidery be mirrored?

No. Mirroring reverses Arabic writing and changes its appearance and meaning. Follow the orientation shown in the product preview.

Can I resize an Islamic calligraphy design?

Substantial resizing is not recommended. It can change stitch density, satin-stitch width, calligraphy legibility and the registration of appliqué stages. Choose one of the supplied sizes whenever possible.

What stabilizer should I use?

Use tear-away backing for stable woven cotton or linen. Choose cut-away backing for dense embroidery, soft furnishings or fabrics requiring permanent support. Add water-soluble topping when embroidering on velvet, fleece or terry cloth.

Are Islamic embroidery designs available in PES and DST?

Yes, PES and DST are available for the designs in this category. Other formats may include JEF, PEC, HUS, VIP, EXP, SEW, DAT, VP3 and XXX. Check each product page for its exact format list.

These designs are perfect for embellishing prayer mats, wall hangings, clothing, tote bags, tablecloths, and home décor items. They are also suitable for creating Islamic-themed gifts, ceremonial textiles, and culturally inspired decorative projects.

Many smaller or single-element designs are beginner-friendly due to moderate stitch counts. Larger, intricate, or multi-element designs may require intermediate or advanced embroidery skills for precise and polished results.

Medium-weight cotton, linen, silk, or synthetic fabrics are ideal. Tear-away stabilizers work well for smaller designs, while cut-away stabilizers are recommended for dense or larger motifs. Water-soluble toppers help maintain stitch clarity on textured fabrics. Adhesive or magnetic hoops improve fabric stability for delicate or slippery materials.
