Oriental Floral Pattern Machine Embroidery Design – 3 Sizes

Oriental Floral Pattern Machine Embroidery Design combines scrolling mint foliage, dark teal stems and stylized purple flowers in a compact symmetrical ornament. The curved horizontal composition makes it suitable for slippers, pockets, cuffs, collars, handbags, table linens and decorative textile accessories.

The design is supplied in three original sizes. The smallest version fits a 100x100 mm or 4x4 embroidery field. The medium and large versions require wider hoops; always compare the exact design dimensions with the usable embroidery field of your machine.

This is a standard machine embroidery design stitched directly onto fabric. It is not appliqué, freestanding lace or an in-the-hoop construction project.

The smallest version leaves only 2 mm of total horizontal clearance inside a true 100x100 mm field. Center the design carefully and check the machine’s actual embroidery area rather than relying only on the commercial hoop name.

Madeira Classic Rayon 40 Color Chart

The original design uses four Madeira Classic Rayon 40 colors arranged in nine programmed embroidery blocks.

Embroidery Sequence

1. 1282 Pale Aqua — lower pale foliage and ornamental details;
2. 1185 Dark Teal — lower stems and scrolling vines;
3. 1282 Pale Aqua — central light foliage;
4. 1185 Dark Teal — central stems and darker leaf sections;
5. 1282 Pale Aqua — upper pale ornament and foliage;
6. 1185 Dark Teal — upper stems and dark ornamental lines;
7. 1122 Deep Lilac — dark purple flower details;
8. 1261 Lavendula — lighter layers of the three fan-shaped flowers;
9. 1122 Deep Lilac — final flower outlines and small circular centers.

Complete programmed sequence: 1282 → 1185 → 1282 → 1185 → 1282 → 1185 → 1122 → 1261 → 1122.

The repeated colors are intentional. Do not merge or reorder the nine programmed blocks. Separate blocks control the overlapping stems, leaves and flower layers.

The technical worksheets may display rounded stitch counts of approximately 13300, 15500 and 18700. The product information above retains the exact file values of 13326, 15546 and 18649 stitches.

Screen swatches are approximate because rayon sheen, lighting, monitor settings and dye lots affect color appearance. Use the Madeira numbers as the primary reference. If another thread brand is required, use the Madeira Thread Free Exchange Converter.

Color Variations

Original Mint and Purple Palette

The original palette combines cool mint foliage with dark teal structural details and two purple shades. The strongest separation is achieved on white, ivory, pale gray, dark navy or deep plum fabric.

Embroidery on Dark Fabric

Madeira 1185 Dark Teal may lose contrast on dark green or navy fabric. Replace it with a brighter turquoise while retaining 1282 for the light foliage. The two purple flower colors can remain unchanged if they are clearly visible on the selected fabric.

Embroidery on Mint Fabric

Madeira 1282 Pale Aqua may disappear on pale mint fabric. Replace it with white, ivory or a lighter contrasting turquoise. Do not skip these blocks because they form embroidered leaves and ornamental curls.

Metallic Accents

For a restrained metallic effect, replace Madeira 1122 in the final small flower centers with a suitable silver or violet metallic thread. Test the complete sequence first because metallic thread behaves differently in small satin details.

Recommended Fabrics, Stabilizers and Needles

• Cotton, linen, twill and stable woven fabric: use one layer of Madeira Cotton Soft 50 g/m² tear-away stabilizer;
• Thin or loosely woven linen: use a lightweight fusible stabilizer to prevent the curved ornament from shifting;
• Velvet, fleece, terry cloth and pile fabric: use suitable backing underneath and Gunold SOLVY FILM 20 water-soluble topping over the fabric;
• Jersey and stretch fabric: use permanent cut-away backing such as Madeira Weblon Plus Fusible 70 g/m²;
• Items that cannot be placed directly in the hoop: use Madeira Cotton Fix self-adhesive stabilizer and float the item without stretching it;
• Regular rayon embroidery: use a SCHMETZ Embroidery 75/11 needle;
• Dense or heavy woven fabric: begin with a SCHMETZ Embroidery 80/12 needle and test the smallest details.

The design contains curved satin sections, small circular details and layered flowers. Incorrect stabilization can distort the ornament or shift the flower outlines away from their underlayers.

How to Embroider the Design on Slippers

The slippers in the product photographs demonstrate a possible placement. They are not constructed as part of the embroidery file, and a finished-slipper tutorial is not included.

1. Use an unassembled slipper upper whenever possible. Flat material is considerably easier to hoop and stabilize than a finished slipper.
2. Print the design template at 100% scale and mark the horizontal and vertical center lines on both slipper pieces.
3. Mirror the placement manually for the left and right slipper. The supplied embroidery motif itself does not need to be mirrored because it is symmetrical.
4. Hoop the fabric together with suitable stabilizer, keeping the marked center aligned with the hoop center.
5. Embroider the complete nine-block sequence without merging repeated colors.
6. Remove the stabilizer carefully and assemble the slippers only after the embroidery is complete.

If finished slippers cannot be opened flat or positioned safely inside the embroidery arm, do not force them into a standard hoop. Use a compatible magnetic or specialty hoop only if the machine provides sufficient needle and carriage clearance.

Does the design fit a 4x4 hoop?

Yes. The smallest size measures 98.0x91.4 mm and fits a true 100x100 mm embroidery field. Placement must be accurate because the total horizontal clearance is only 2 mm.

Do all three sizes fit a 5x7 hoop?

No. A true 130x180 mm field accommodates the 98.0x91.4 mm and 117.5x109.6 mm versions. The largest version is 140.9 mm wide and exceeds a 130 mm field in its original orientation.

Is PES included?

Yes. PES is included together with DST, JEF, PEC, VIP, HUS, SEW, EXP, DAT, XXX and VP3. Select the format supported by your embroidery machine.

How many thread colors are used?

The design uses four Madeira Classic Rayon 40 colors: 1282 Pale Aqua, 1185 Dark Teal, 1122 Deep Lilac and 1261 Lavendula.

Why are there nine blocks when only four colors are used?

Several colors are repeated to control overlapping stems, foliage and flower layers. The complete programmed sequence should be retained.

Are the slippers included?

No. The slippers are a project example. The download contains only the digital embroidery files.

Is this an in-the-hoop slipper design?

No. This is a standard embroidery motif. It does not construct or assemble slippers inside the embroidery hoop.

Can the motif be embroidered on finished slippers?

Only when the slipper can be positioned flat and the embroidery machine has sufficient needle and carriage clearance. Embroidering the unassembled slipper upper is safer and produces more accurate placement.

Can the design be resized?

Use one of the three supplied original sizes whenever possible. Independent resizing can change stitch density, satin width, pull compensation and the alignment between the purple flower layers. Royal Present Embroidery is not responsible for stitch quality after independent resizing, editing, splitting or format conversion.

Can I change the colors?

Yes. Preserve adequate contrast between the fabric, light foliage, dark stems and the two flower shades. Keep the nine-block order even when substituting colors.
