Blue Eastern Blank Monogram Machine Embroidery Design is a large symmetrical floral frame inspired by the architectural ornamentation of the Tilla Qori Madrasasi in Uzbekistan. Turquoise arabesques, pale blue foliage, white flowers and golden centers form an elongated oval composition with an open area for a separately added initial or monogram.

The design is supplied in four original sizes for large embroidery hoops. Its balanced vertical shape is suitable for bath towels, bed linens, decorative pillows, table runners, garment backs, wall panels and personalized textile gifts.

The letter shown in the product images and technical worksheet is an embroidery placement example only. No letter, alphabet or embroidery font is included.

This is a standard machine embroidery design stitched directly onto fabric. It is not freestanding lace, appliqué or an in-the-hoop construction project.

Madeira Classic Rayon 40 Color Chart

The original design uses four Madeira Classic Rayon 40 colors arranged in eleven programmed embroidery blocks.

Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1176
Navajo Blue — saturated turquoise outlines, large flowers, stems, vines and the oval monogram border
Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1132
Clear Blue — pale blue leaves, ornamental curls and secondary foliage
Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1004
Natural White — white flower petals and pale decorative floral elements
Madeira Classic Rayon 40 1069
Sunshine Yellow — golden flower centers and small circular accents

Digital color swatches are based on the Madeira shade card but remain approximate. Rayon sheen, lighting, monitor calibration and dye lots affect the visible result. Order thread by the Madeira number rather than by the displayed screen color.

If another thread brand is required, use the Madeira Thread Free Exchange Converter.

Embroidery Sequence

  1. 1176 Navajo Blue — turquoise ornament and flowers in the upper section;
  2. 1132 Clear Blue — pale blue upper foliage and ornamental curls;
  3. 1176 Navajo Blue — additional turquoise upper details;
  4. 1004 Natural White — white petals in the upper section;
  5. 1069 Sunshine Yellow — golden centers of the upper flowers;
  6. 1176 Navajo Blue — turquoise ornament and flowers in the lower section;
  7. 1132 Clear Blue — pale blue lower foliage and ornamental curls;
  8. 1176 Navajo Blue — additional turquoise lower details;
  9. 1004 Natural White — white petals in the lower section;
  10. 1069 Sunshine Yellow — golden centers of the lower flowers;
  11. 1176 Navajo Blue — final satin border around the blank oval center.

Complete programmed sequence: 1176 → 1132 → 1176 → 1004 → 1069 → 1176 → 1132 → 1176 → 1004 → 1069 → 1176.

The worksheet states 10 changes because eleven consecutive embroidery blocks produce ten transitions between blocks. This is not a discrepancy.

Do not merge or reorder the repeated colors automatically. The separate blocks control the upper and lower ornament, overlapping flower layers and final oval border.

Color Variations

Original Blue Palette

The original palette combines Navajo Blue, Clear Blue, Natural White and Sunshine Yellow. It produces the strongest contrast on navy, deep blue, charcoal, burgundy, white and ivory fabric.

Embroidery on White Fabric

Madeira 1004 Natural White will disappear on white fabric. Replace all 1004 blocks with a contrasting shade such as deep blue, pale gold, lavender or silver-gray. Do not skip these blocks because they form complete flower petals.

Embroidery on Pale Blue Fabric

Madeira 1132 Clear Blue may lose contrast on pale blue fabric. Replace it with white, silver-gray or a darker blue while preserving clear separation from 1176 Navajo Blue.

Metallic Accents

For a restrained metallic effect, replace 1069 Sunshine Yellow with a suitable gold metallic thread. Use a metallic needle, reduce the embroidery speed and test the small flower centers before stitching the final project.

Recommended Fabrics, Stabilizers and Needles

  • Stable cotton, linen, twill and decorative woven fabric: use Madeira Cotton Soft 50 g/m² tear-away stabilizer;
  • Thin or loosely woven linen: use a lightweight fusible backing to prevent movement inside the large design;
  • Terry towels: use tear-away stabilizer underneath and Gunold SOLVY FILM 20 water-soluble topping over the loops;
  • Velvet and other pile fabrics: use permanent or suitable tear-away backing underneath and water-soluble topping over the fabric;
  • Jersey and stretch fabric: use Madeira Weblon Plus Fusible 70 g/m² cut-away stabilizer for permanent support;
  • Items that cannot be hooped: use Madeira Cotton Fix self-adhesive tear-away stabilizer and position the fabric without stretching it;
  • Regular rayon embroidery: use a SCHMETZ Embroidery 75/11 needle;
  • Metallic flower centers: use a SCHMETZ Metallic 90/14 needle and reduce the machine speed.

The design contains long curved satin stitches, many small flowers and precisely aligned color layers. Loose hooping or insufficient stabilization can distort the oval center and shift the white petals away from the blue ornament.

Read the detailed Choosing Stabilizers for Machine Embroidery guide.

How to Embroider the Design on a Terry Towel

  1. Wash and dry the towel before embroidery if the fabric may shrink.
  2. Print the design template at 100% scale and mark the vertical and horizontal center lines.
  3. Hoop suitable tear-away stabilizer together with the towel whenever possible.
  4. Place Gunold SOLVY FILM 20 water-soluble topping over the terry loops.
  5. Secure the topping outside the embroidery area without stretching the towel.
  6. Stitch all eleven programmed blocks in their original order.
  7. Remove the topping carefully and tear away the backing close to the outer ornament.
  8. Dissolve remaining topping according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

The topping is important because it prevents the small flowers, narrow stems and satin stitches from sinking between the towel loops.

How to Add a Letter or Monogram

  1. Open the blank frame in compatible embroidery editing software.
  2. Insert a separately digitized machine embroidery letter into the open oval center.
  3. Center the letter without allowing its stitches to overlap the satin oval border.
  4. Check the complete design dimensions after combining the files.
  5. Review the embroidery sequence and assign the required letter color.
  6. Save the completed composition in a format supported by your embroidery machine.
  7. Test the complete frame and lettering on similar fabric and stabilizer.

An ordinary computer font cannot be sent directly to an embroidery machine unless it has been correctly digitized as embroidery stitches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this design fit a 5x7 or 6x10 hoop?

No. Even the smallest version measures 191.8x248.2 mm and requires a substantially larger embroidery field.

Which versions fit a 200x260 mm embroidery field?

The 191.8x248.2 mm and 198.6x257.0 mm versions fit a true 200x260 mm field. The second version has very limited clearance and must be centered accurately.

Do all four sizes fit a 220x300 mm hoop?

No. The first three sizes fit a true 220x300 mm field. The largest version measures 238.6x308.8 mm and exceeds it in both dimensions.

Is PES included?

Yes. PES is included together with DST, PEC, VIP, HUS, EXP, DAT, JEF, VP3, XXX and SEW. Compatibility also depends on the maximum embroidery field supported by the machine.

How many thread colors are used?

The design uses four Madeira Classic Rayon 40 colors: 1176 Navajo Blue, 1132 Clear Blue, 1004 Natural White and 1069 Sunshine Yellow.

Why are there eleven embroidery blocks?

The upper and lower halves are embroidered in separate overlapping sections. The final eleventh block stitches the turquoise satin border around the open oval center.

Why does the technical sheet state 10 changes?

Eleven embroidery blocks create ten transitions from one block to the next. Therefore, 10 changes and 11 programmed blocks describe the same sequence correctly.

Is the letter R included?

No. The letter R on the technical worksheet demonstrates possible monogram placement. The purchase contains only the blank ornamental frame.

Can the frame be embroidered without a letter?

Yes. It can be stitched exactly as supplied and used as a decorative Eastern floral medallion.

Can I add my own embroidery font?

Yes. Use a correctly digitized machine embroidery alphabet and compatible editing software. Check the combined dimensions and stitch sequence before saving the completed file.

Can the design be embroidered on a towel?

Yes. Use suitable backing underneath and water-soluble topping over the towel pile. The topping is necessary for clean small flowers, stems and satin stitches.

Can the colors be changed?

Yes. Maintain visible contrast between the fabric, the two blue shades, the flower petals and their centers. Preserve the complete eleven-block sequence when substituting colors.

Can the design be resized?

Use one of the four supplied original sizes whenever possible. Resizing can change stitch density, satin width, pull compensation and alignment between the layered flower sections. Royal Present Embroidery is not responsible for stitch quality after independent resizing, editing, splitting or format conversion.

How do I select the correct file format?

Extract the ZIP archive and transfer only the format supported by your embroidery machine. See the Embroidery Machine File Formats Guide if you are unsure.

How do I unpack the ZIP archive?

Extract the archive on a computer or use the free Royal Present online unzip tool.

Is this a finished embroidered product?

No. This is a downloadable digital design for a computerized embroidery machine. No fabric, thread, lettering or physical product will be shipped.

Can I sell items embroidered with this design?

Finished physical products may be sold by a small handmade business. Industrial mass production and redistribution, sharing, exchange or resale of the digital files are prohibited. Read the complete Royal Present Embroidery terms of use.

Blue Eastern Blank Monogram Machine Embroidery Design - 4 sizes

It seems that there are some area missed some stitches. Top and bottom middle section 3rd flower only has yellow center but no white flower. One raw down corner flower has white flower and no yellow. Picture bellow

Thank you for your comments. We can see all the yellow centers in their places. We noticed the lopsided stitches only. It was possible you didn't put a water-soluble film on the fabric, so the embroidery looks lopsided. You need to use a water-soluble stabilizer while stitching out on such a fabric to make the stitches look smooth. We are absolutely sure you'll manage to stitch out the pattern without any trouble next time.
